Do I need a referral?
No, Osteopaths are primary contact practitioners so no doctor’s referral is necessary. However, Osteopaths are always willing to work in with other practitioners to achieve what is best for the patient.

How long will my consultation take?
All sessions at Redcliffe Family Osteopathy are 30-45 minutes of face-to-face treatment.

How many sessions will I need?
We expect to see patients between 3-6 treatments on average. However, this will depend on the nature of your problem. A chronic condition may require maintenance over a longer period of time than an acute condition which may be treated in less time depending on the severity. The treatment plan will be discussed with you to achieve the best results.

Is Osteopathic treatment covered by Medicare?
Patients who have a GP Management Plan for osteopathic treatment are eligible for a Medicare rebate. Please contact your GP for GP Management Plan referrals.

Is Osteopathic treatment covered by Private Health Insurance?
Osteopathy is covered under the Extras option of private health insurance policies. We recommend contacting your insurer to make sure you are covered for Osteopathy. We do have HICAPS so you may claim your refund immediately. Your insurer can advise on pricings on refund amounts.

Do you treat Workcover, TAC and Veteran's Affairs patients?
Osteopaths are registered with Workcover and will treat Workers Compensation Referrals. Please advise when booking the appointment and make sure you bring in your case number and details of the incident/injury. We do not bill third parties, except for DVA, so you will be required to pay the clinic consultation fees on the day of consultation. You will be issued with a receipt so you can claim your rebate from the appropriate third party.

Is Osteopathy suitable for children?
Osteopathy is a wonderful treatment option for children as Osteopaths are trained to apply various gentle techniques for the effective treatments for children.

Is Osteopathy suitable throughout pregnancy?
Yes, osteopathic treatment has been shown to be an effective, safe and gentle way to treat mothers during pregnancy.
